Light and Space
Light and Space explores the relationship between abstraction, cultivated landscapes, and the sensory experience of space. Drawing from the compositional logic of structured gardens, the work distills light, movement, and form into minimalist paintings that express both harmony and interruption. Evie’scanvases are informed by long walks through spaces like the Sydney Botanical Gardens, where the ordered rhythm of pathways, plantings, and open lawns shape a unique kind of interaction with nature.
Rather than depict these scenes directly, Adasal reduces them to essential elements—colour, shape, and placement—seeking not to represent, but to reimagine. Each work becomes a study in balance, revealing the tension between control and spontaneity, structure and openness. Colour is key in her practice, used to reflect how emotional resonance can arise from contrast and quietude. Light and Space invites viewers to pause, recalibrate, and enter a dialogue with the built and natural worlds we inhabit.
